Golfing Particulars
TEE TIMES
Ireland's many revered links and parkland courses are a honey pot to the world's golfers and deciding to book too late can prove to be a big disappointment. Our advice is to book early, especially at the more sought-after courses such as Ballybunion Old and Royal County Down. Courses may be closed for members only at certain times of the week, and in some cases, all weekend.
CLUB RULINGS and CONDUCT
Many courses throughout Ireland require handicap cards as proof of same. We recommend all golfers in possession of certificates pack them in the golf bag. Dress code is standard, with casual, smart appearance expected. Some clubs require jacket and tie for evening dining. Soft-spiked shoes are generally par for the course throughout the country. Most clubs have spike changing facilities, but it is probably best to leave the steels at home. Slow play is to be avoided at all times.
CADDIES and CARTS
All golf clubs will try to provide caddies if requested, but their services cannot be guaranteed. The cost for a caddy varies, ranging between €25 to €45 per bag with gratuity dependent on your satisfaction. Motorized buggies are generally restricted to the parkland courses and it is advisable to book in advance. Most courses will provide pull trolleys to hire at around €3-5 each.
